• I am trying to do some fixing of a new client’s blog. The theme they are using is called “Nillbox” (I believe it is a free theme because it has limited customization options).

For the most part, their main blog page looks okay:

But, when you go to the blog entry, the featured image is huge and pixellated:

Increasing the size of the featured image makes the main image in the blog huge and look ridiculous.

Is there a way to remove the featured image from the blog post itself? Or do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks so much for your help in advance!

  • Two things. Contact the theme developer for official support of the theme (Nillbox is a premium theme). And then the second thing: you can use custom CSS to hide the element containing the featured image. WordPress 4.9 comes with a custom CSS editor and you can use that (or any other similar plugin of your choice) to do that.

Thanks but I can’t find the theme developer (I’ve searched). I tried some custom CSS to hide the large featured image on a blog post but it didn’t seem to work.

    This may help:

I was going to suggest a function and there it is. The CSS way too.

But, on second thought… if you can’t find the theme developer then you’re probably not getting the necessary updates as WordPress grows. So, it’s probably time for a new theme.
