I use the MySQL delete and CSV import option to update my posts as they are all stored in a separate Access database. However, that route can’t cope with importing special characters such as the ? or any foreign language character e.g.ü

I don’t know if this is a restriction of the import or WordPress, but as the list of events grow it becomes a real pain.

I have tried to find a better way to keep the WP list updated from the master database, but I am tending to update it less and less frequently because the import is problematic.

The events are stored in the standard posts table so it is possible to use a standard importer to bulk load your events from a CSV file if you want. I recommend using Really Simple CSV Importer to do this.

This is better than any importer I would be able to code into the plugin anyway.

I already use that plug-in as recommended by you in the past. Unfortunately it can’t cope with special characters even when they are just 1/2 symbol.
