    Hi,

    A long term fan of WordFence!!

    Just wondering if this could be considered for a future feature request. THe following .htaccess (https://pastebin.com/BPRv4TDd) provides blocks against a list of bad bots, and could be adapted to be enabled as a “checkbox” on/off for wordfence users? Maybe a similar “30 day” delay between free and premium lists?

  • Sorry to say the bad bot criminals figured out a long time ago how to bypass user agent and referrer blocks like that, it’s just extra overhead for your .htaccess. Only things that work in my opinion are blocking by behavior (rate limiting etc.), black listed IP numbers, country blocking, and obvious attack destination URLS. All stuff that Wordfence does, if time is spent configuring. I still add a few things to .htaccess, such as blocking bots with no referrer, and a short list of really bad IP numbers, but mostly I just depend on Wordfence, with time spent configuring. MTN

    Hi @theitjuggler,

    Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I passed it on to our development team for consideration.

    @mountainguy2,

    Thank you for mentioning this. Indeed, Wordfence offers many features to block bots depending on their behaviour.
