A customer of mine wants this functionality (which I realized with multiple menus), but I thought I’d forward the idea. Maybe it’s worth a feature.

    Basically it’s like this:
Only show the subtree of the currently active page.

The currently active page is “Greece”
Africa (collapsed, cant be opened but links to page)
    Europe
    – Germany
    – GREECE
    – Italy
Asia (collapsed, cant be opened but links to page)

The currently active page is “China”
Africa (collapsed, cant be opened but links to page)
Europe (collapsed, cant be opened but links to page)
    Asia
    – Cambodia
    – CHINA
    – Japan

    Thanks for your feedback! ??

So there are two features that currently exist:

    1. Opening the submenu menu for the current page – so you’d have your above scenario, except you’d still be able to expand the other top level items’ submenus. (This is available as an option in the free version)

    2. In Bellows Pro, you can set up a menu dynamically generated from the post hierarchy ( Post Hierarchy Autopopulation [Pro] ). Then you can tell it to only generate the tree based on the current page’s root. So in your above scenario, on the Greece page, you’d see only the “Europe” menu/submenu. And on the China page you’d see only the “Asia” menu/submenu. The difference vs your scenario is that the other top level items would not appear at all.

I’m curious, can you tell me what the advantage is by including the non-current top level items, but not their submenus in your example? Is the goal just to keep the user focused on the current tree and eliminate distractions? I’m interested to know what the advantage of preventing the direct navigation to other top level items’ submenus is, since they wouldn’t take up any additional space.

    Best,

    Chris
