Feature Requests – Categories, additional fields

    Thanks for developing this plug-in for nonprofits. We are implementing it on a new site, and really like these features:
    Pros:
    Quick and easy to create opportunities.
    Ability to style form elements to match site.
    Ability to create both One Time opportunities and flexible opportunities.
    Volunteers tracking.
    Automatic Reminder messages.
    Volunteer data can be exported as CSV
    Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities can be listed in Widget

    Limitations

    Please consider adding these features in a future release

    Please Add categories – We have four different programs for which we need volunteers. It would be great if we could modify the shortcodes by adding a category name or id to filter opportunities by specific programs. This would save updating each program page with a short code each time a new opportunity is created.

    Create custom questions, currently limited to first name, last name, email, phone
    ( We would like to add AGE for volunteers under 18 ) or add a checkbox for certain opportunities.

    Consider adding a calendaring feature – Currently opportunities have to be manually linked to calendar events.

    Volunteer data can be exported as CSV

    To clarify for anyone else who might read this, this is not a built-in feature, but since each volunteer is a user within WordPress you can export a list of volunteers with another plugin.

    We have heard this one a number of times and it’s definitely on our radar.

    You can actually do this already, but it requires a decent amount of technical knowledge. If you or a developer are comfortable with programming, take a look at the template at templates/opp-single-form.php. It can be copied into your theme and adjusted. You’ll then need to hook into the code that saves the form submission.
