    Hello

Absolutely love the plugin. There are a few features that a client would love to see in the plugin. I realise that you’re probably really busy.

So if I wrote the code for the features, would you consider integrating them into the main code? Although I could modify the plugin, I’d quite like them to be added to the core code so that my client can take advantage of your updates.

The features I wanted to add:

    1) Change the retention period of time to any value that we wish (was thinking of using apply_filters() for this – so that it’s for advanced users only. I’d like to keep data on the system for MUCH longer, but I can see the value in your defaults being much shorter.

    2) Adding a CSV download capability of the searches (matching the criteria that you already have within the plugin).

    What do you think?

    Thank you!
    Dan

    Hi Dan,

They both sound like useful features — I would like to add them. If you would like to implement them, you should fork the project on github:

    https://github.com/bennettmcelwee/Search-Meter

Make your changes and send a pull request and I will do the rest. I will probably tweak any contributed code as I would like to minimise the complexity of the UI (for ease of use) and code (to avoid bugs).

If you are unfamiliar with the Github workflow, there are lots of good resources on the site. Otherwise ask me.

    Great stuff, thank you

Yep, I’ll work it out from my end, and then let you know when it’s done for you to test and review ??

    Hi Bennett

I *think* I’ve done it right. I’ve done some changes just for the count override that can be done using a native WordPress filter.

    e.g. add_filter(‘search-meter-history-size’, 50000);

Please take a look to see what you think?

    Thanks
    Dan

Thanks, Dan. I will have a look. Using a filter for overridable options is a great idea! I can’t believe I haven’t seen it before.

I will close this support thread now. You can contact me via github or open a new topic, or just email me: bennett at thunderguy com.

Fantastic ideas there Dan and great spot re. override and add_filter.

I’m having a bit of trouble recording custom search records, Happy to connect and pay if it’s something you can work out really simply Dan?

This is my thread, but I’m not getting much luck from Bennet.

Sorry about the slow response Owen! Have a look at the thread again. I just need to know more details about your custom search.

I have updated Search Meter to version 2.11, which includes the filterable parameters feature from Dan.
