  • Hey Dave, thank you for using Menu Icons!

I don’t think an option page is necessary for previewing the icons. I have an update for the plugin where you can select the icons for your menu items using the media modal, just like when you select an image for the post’s featured image. It’s not released yet, but if you want to try it, you can clone the repo at Github and checkout the selector-modal branch. You can see the (outdated) screenshot in my tweet.

That said, I may be adding an option page where you can choose which icon types should be activated.

As for the icon size and position; these two are actually the last items in my list for this update before the new version is released. You will be able to set the icon position (before or after the menu item text), and the icon size (font-size, em-based).

    Stay tuned! ??

    Hey Dave,

The promised update was just released, get it while it’s hot ??

Got it and it’s great. Love, love, love the icon picker and the ability to set the position.

However, it would be nice if the position included a “global” checkmark.

I may include a “Default Icon Position” on the settings page in the next version, but that will only work for all nav menus, so I don’t think there will be a default position for each nav menu.

    That would be fine.

Is there a chance that you could wrap menu items in a SPAN?

I ask because I want the ability to remove the text and only show the icon on phones (small screens). The only way I can figure out how to do that is by sticking a SPAN around the menu text and then using “display: none;” to hide it in my responsive CSS.

Maybe even a “Hide Menu Text” option in the Icon popup options.

    Hey Dave,

With version 0.3.0, you can now set default settings for a nav menu that will be inherited by newly added menu items. The menu item labels are also now wrapped with <span /> and you can also hide the labels without editing your theme’s stylesheet.
