Feature request: select files from upload folders instead of the media library

  • I am listing .pdf files that I’ve uploaded into a custom sub-folder in the uploads folder. Since these were not added via media upload, they don’t appear in the media library. Is it possible to target such folders instead of the media library?

    Hello and thank you for your interest in the plugin.

    The option you want is definitely more difficult to implement than you might think. On the one hand, this plugin is based on entries in the Media Library. These contain the filesize, titles and descriptions as well as other properties that could be used. With your wish, such data would not be available (apart from the filesize, but its not performant).

    On the other hand, it would also be difficult to select a local folder in the hosting as a basis and then manage the data contained therein in any way.

    My recommendation would be that you look for a way to import your files into the media library. As far as I know, there are also plugins.

    I would still keep your wish in mind, but due to the problems mentioned above, I don’t see much chance of this happening at the moment.
