Feature Request: Revisions Support

thanks for your suggestion!

Yes, something like this would be really nice, but I don’t really see how a nice user interface could be look like here. That’s why I’m reluctant to try to implement that.
In the background (if your WordPress installation is configured for it), TablePress does make use of the revisions system already, i.e. every table is stored as a new revision (until the maximum configured number of revisions is reached).
However, with that, it’s only possible to compare the internal JSON data of tables on the Revisions screen, but that’s not user friendly at all.

Thanks for your response.

It’s really a challenge, but maybe, if not compare, just list revisions, preview them (the way we preview a table) and recover (the way pre-3.8 WP used to do), I think will help most people.

Hi Tobias, i deal with prices in R$ (Brasil) based on U$ (Dolar), this prices changes every week (at least). A option to view my table prices in determined date will save A LOT of time.
For now, i have to create a new .xlsx table for every price change, than i keep a folder with the name of the product and the related .xlsx named with the current date. I work with thousands of products and each one have six different prices. Can you realize how much time i will save with the ability to compare old versions? Keep it on the ideas list for the next version of the plugin.

Do you have an update on the revisions support? For my personal use case a simple list of revisions and the possibility to preview and/or restore revisions would be enough. No need to compare between revisions.

no, sorry, nothing directly new here.
There’s no user interface for this, except the native one that WordPress offers for Custom Post Types. You can access that by using the TablePress Debug Extension from https://tablepress.org/download/extension/tablepress-debug.zip

Sure, no argument there. But, just as raphaelsuzuki was saying too, maybe you could start small by implementing only a simple list of revisions.

yes, that would probably the way to start anyways, but even with that, careful planning is needed, to not run into backward compatibility issues later.
