Feature request: post type transition actions

Hi, it would be great if post type transition actions were fired, similar to WP’s built-in status transitions.

Context: I’m building myself an invoicing tool. I’d like to enter a quote for work into the system and if I do the work I’d then change that quote to an invoice. My first approach is to use 2 post types.

I’ll probably use custom statuses, or draft/publish, or a taxonomy with a custom metabox instead but thought I’d put this request in for your consideration.
