• Apologies if this is a repeat feature request. I won’t be surprised if it is.

Please: native ‘push’ CDN support for the Media Library.

For those of us who take advantage of WordPress as a very user-friendly CMS (one of my editors almost weeped on first use of the admin after our years ago migration from TextPattern) and who daily publish multiple media-rich articles, we want to take advantage of offloading that media to a CDN. There are, of course, a number of plug-in options available, such as W3TC, but I want to depend as much as I can on the WP core – and not have to rely on plugins that may or may not be around next year or may or may not be compatible with the most recent WP release. Plugin extendibility is a wonderful thing, but some features just need to go native.

    Cheers,

    Chris

You’re depending on a non-core resource (the CDN). WordPress would bloat if it tried to support all the protocols of all the CDNs. Plugins are the best route for this.

It’d be nice if the CDN rolled their own plugin…

W3TC is as close to core as one can get. I earnestly recommend using it.
