Feature request: More efficient Photo Gallery

  • Photo gallery that currently comes with WordPress is hardly of any use. It requires better integration with the media library. There should be a provision to select and transfer photos from media library to the gallery (may be through check boxes, not sure though)

    I recently came across DM Albums plugin. Just have a look at the demo. Can’t we have a similar gallery in WordPress?

    Photo gallery is one of the general/standard features WordPress should offer. The gallery feature is already available in WordPress but hardly can anybody use it. This request is to make the existing gallery feature in WordPress more useful.

    Further, the plugins will have their own drawbacks. For instance, I am not able to find a suitable photo gallery plugin which directly picks the photo from WordPress media library. All suitable plugins I tried out till date require that the photos be uploaded separately for the plugin (in spite of the photos existing in the WP media library). Morever, there are other problems, such as, whenever the gallery plugin is upgraded to a newer version, WP empties all the associated photo directories requiring the user to redo the tiresome exercise of creating directories and uploading photos.
