• Hi

I’m exclusively using Gutenberg for my personal blog posts, and I really like the Media and Text block, which allows me to, well, present an image and corresponding text nicely next to it.

I’d really fancy a way to make the image link to something though. Is that possible?

    Best regards
    Bjarne

  • @reidh It’s still available. You have to install both Gutenberg and EditorsKit plugins. Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

I would like to bump this as I am also after this feature

This feature is being implemented on the Gutenberg plugin.
The PR that adds the feature is available at https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/18139.
If you have any suggestions or comments related to this feature, feel free to leave your comments on the PR.
Thank you all that suggested this feature.

@jorgefilipecosta nice to see that this is coming hopefully soon.
Even after using Gutenberg Blocks for a year now, there a lot of things like this who still need refinement to work as many would expect.

Can I join in with this? I think media and text blocks without links to images is a reason not to launch blocks in the first place.

I find blocks confusing, clunky, frustrating and unhelpful. I have no idea why you did this it seems so retrograde. I presume, you made blocks to help non coder people like me? Hmmm.

Looks like an answer seeking a solution.

I once agreed with you, shoobeedoo, but am finding that Gutenberg becomes easier the more I work with it. To be sure, there are still lots of tweaks to be made (like this image/link one), but WordPress seems to be working on doing the tweaks and responding to us users. And I do remember lots of frustrations for non coders (like me, too) with the classic editor!

Feature request for this too on the media text block.

    Badly needed

    Me too!

Seems so obvious to have an image link.

We need it to link a thumbnail of a magazine article to a full-size (readable) image in a new tab.

Please add the feature to simply create a text link to media. The use case is linking to a PDF file. When you select text and click the Link icon, and search… it does not find any matching media items, which it should.
