    A dialogue box confirms a new story has been published successfully and also contains a question to include the story on a new post alongside a button link to “add to new post”.

    As we are building a site that gives our users access to the editor this dialogue is confusing and the link doesn’t work, so please advise on any mechanism for disabling that feature or dialogue box?

  • Hello there @processstories! Thank you for your suggestion. Only editors, authors, and administrators will be able to create, approve, and publish stories so that message will appear only for these users.

    Which WordPress user role will be set for your users? Contributors can create a story but will need to submit it for review. So, that dialogue box will not be applicable to users with this role.

    Hi @luckynasan thank you for your reply.

    In answer to your question: we’re using the subscriber role but with custom permissions so as to confine their access to the editor, but the dialogue box remains for all users

    So any mechanism for disabling that feature or dialogue box would be useful for us.

    Could you elaborate on what custom capabilities you’ve added to the subscriber role and what it is used for? Just so we understand this a bit better.

    And to clarify, you are talking about the dialog box that says “Your story has been successfully published! Would you like to include it on a new post?”?

    And that the “Add to new post” link in that dialog does not work?

    Hi @swissspidy okay I’ll try but if you need me to ask our developers just let me know;

    I believe the custom capabilities are solely related to permissions that allow users to access our WP admin but confine them to the web story editor beneath our main menu bar.

    You’re right about the dialogue box, that’s the one. The reason the link doesn’t work I assume is simply because of the permissions (or lack of them) that we have granted as we do not want our users to create new posts.

    If you could ask your developers, that would be great.

    I am asking because the “Add to new post” link only shows up when the user has the permission to create blog posts (edit_posts). If they don’t, the dialog will look like this:

    That’s why I am curious to learn more about the specific permissions you are using, as it sounds like an edge case we’re not currently considering.

    @swissspidy

    Our developer is not able to check yet but “pretty sure” he gave all or most permissions to the subscriber role to ensure users can create and publish without admin approval.

    I am not sure if this concerns you but perhaps we can limit the subscriber role permissions to ensure users don’t get this dialogue box but retain access to all else?

    We’d rather want to fix any broken links instead of not displaying the dialog at all. That’s why I would like to await your developer’s response.

    As said above, the dialog should just have a “View story” link in your case.

    And if the user does have the right permissions, it will look like this:

    To double check: is the “View story” link not working, or is the “Add to new post” link not working? What’s the exact error message you’re getting?

    @processstories Hi there, just following up to see if you had a chance to check if it is the “View story” link not working, or if the “Add to new post” link is not working and what the exact error message you’re getting is.

    Sorry I don’t have this yet. I’ll do my best to update you if when we get this again

    @processstories No problem, thanks for letting us know.

    @processstories Hi there, just checking in to see if you are still having issues with the links?

    @processstories We are going to mark your topic as resolved as we haven’t received a response. Please feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to experience any issues. Thank you!
