Feature request-Disable messaging (soft block)

Hi Jacques,
I like the feature of blocking a profile without removing it. But there is another one I want, if possible. It is only slightly different from the block feature which you have already implemented, so maybe it won’t take much time of yours to do this, but is very useful.

I need a way to Disable Messaging of a user X. Everything else should remain the like a normal user, and others users who see user X’s profile. This is where it is different from the block function you have right now.

I do not want X’s profile to be removed from the search results (of other users). Also, all messages which X has sent to other users should stay exactly as before. X should even be able to see if they get new messages, but not be able to reply them. That’s all. Disable messaging (new messages and replies)…that’s it.

The reason why I need this more than the block profile you have right now is because the block is removing the messages the user has sent to others in their messages. I don’t want to reduce the number of users they see (there are many X’s) or do anything with their messages, it affects their user experience I believe, and if they keep writing messages and see that the profiles are continuously being removed from the system, it is not fun for them at all. They should also show up just like normal in search results, smiles, friendship request, etc.

YOu can add another column in the admin (right next to delete and block) where you can just say “disable messaging” and that should be fine…But i need this more than the block ability you have right now (which is good…but there is another level I need, that’s why I am calling this “disable messaging” a “soft block”).

So there would be three levels of user access control:
1. Delete permanently with quarantine

2. Block, where the blocked user (X) can’t do much, and X doesn’t show in search results, or in smile history, friendship history, or messages of other users.

3. Disable Messaging, where the user (Y) will only not be able to respond to existing messages or send new ones, but will have all other abilities, to browse profiles, even edit their profile, etc. (doesn’t matter). Just they won’t be able to send any messages. The important thing-Y should appear just as normal in other search results of other users, messages from and to Y should also appear just as normal, and Y should also show just like normal in the smile history, friendship request history, or the views history of the other users.

The way I have the site right now, I think this will be a far more useful feature than Block (which there is no need to remove, now that you have implemented it).

Other dating sites also remove the messaging ability of the user when their subscription expires, or in trial period, etc.
