Feature Request: Add custom fields to Latest content loop

It would be great if one could edit the Latest Content loop to be able to add the output of a custom field.
You could handle it like The Event Calender does, where if someone wants to override a built in template part they could put an appropriate named file in
/themes/the-theme-U-use/mailpoet/templates/
