What a great plug-in, it spared me a lot of the former hassle already.

My question is this: Google’s Lighthouse always provides two annotations concerning the output of the plug-in:

    a. the flag images are missing dimensions
    b. the links do not come with aria information

a should be rather easy to fix
b would need a little more work in order to accomplish that for different use cases (e.g. just using a simple link to switch between 2 languages vs using a dropdown to choose from several offers).

In general, to accomplish this there’s lang, hreflang and aria-label plus some more aria tags concerning the state a dropdown is in. There’s an article about such kind of markup for a language switch at codyhouse.co, also including a demo. The default aria-label would best be able to be overridden in the backend.

I’d be very pleased if something along these lines could be added to Multisite Language Switcher, as accessability is becoming a more and more prominent matter as well as a legal requirement.

    Thanks for reading my suggestion.
