Is there anyway to include an option to allow “Media Deduper” to index the files by simply clicking an re-index key ?? Right now “Media Deduper” does the indexing on it’s own which is OK, but if someone deletes a ton of images it would be nice to be able to simply hit the key and rebuild the index. Possible ???

  • Hi there,

Thanks for writing. I’m not sure what you mean here —?deleting files shouldn’t require any re-indexing. Indexing basically just adds a postmeta value for each media item, if a media item is deleted the meta will be deleted with it but all other media items should be unaffected.

Maybe there’s a bug? Are you being told the index is incomplete after deleting media?

When you first run the plugin it indexes all the images!
    2) as you delete the dups the number goes down ( which is correct )
    3) exit out and go to pending posts
    4) delete posts and images – lets say 20
    5) go into library and delete an few more images
    6) when you first indexed all the images with your plugin it say’s
example 900 images yet the system library say’s 800.
    7) the only way to have these numbers match is to deactivate your plugin and then reactivate it. The numbers then match with the library and your plugin.
    8) Unless you deactivate and reactivate your plugin it never matches what the system is saying regarding the number of images on the site.

I hope this explains it better…

It does, thank you! We’ll see if we can replicate this and if so get a fix included in the next release.

Just issued a new release, let me know if you still encounter this bug — hopefully we’ve got it squashed.
