• Love the plugin. It’s quickly becoming an important part of our workflow. A couple of features we would like to see:

    1) In the “assign posts to a specific user” dropdown: it would be great to limit who appears in that box. We let audience members subscribe to the site, which makes it a challenge to find the names of our writers in the box. Even limiting it based on role (admin, editor, author, etc.) would be a big step forward.

    2) Letting an admin edit items posted to the to do list. Sometimes a mistake is made, more information becomes available on a post, or we want to shuffle our priorities a bit. It would be nice to do that without recreating work that has already been done.

    3) If an asterisk * appears next to a post assigned to me, I would also like to see a mark next to a post assigned to someone else, like a degree symbol ° angle bracket > or double-cross ? . It all helps to prevent someone from spending time on somebody else’s assignment.

Thanks again, and keep up the good work!

Hello! I am afraid for the shamefully late reply, the forum wasn’t notifying me…

    1) Yes, that’s a great idea. I think it I will only allow limitation by user roles.
    2) Yes, I had thought about it, but in the end I figured about it needed quite a bit of work on my part with little benefit from users. But yes, I understand it would be useful, will add it when I have a bit of time.
    3) It would take a second to me, but wouldn’t it look too carneval? I mean, current-user-assigned posts are shown on top of the list with a sign preceding them, aren’t they already quite clear?

Really thanks for your valuable feedback.

    Have a nice day,
    Stefano

My turn to apologize for the super-late reply!! So sorry…

I can say after about two months of use that our four regular authors sometimes do not notice that another writer has been assigned to a story. Then we get two authors who have clicked “write it” causing some trouble for me, an editor, to untangle the mess. So it’s nice to see stories assigned to me, and it would be nice to see stories assigned to someone else just so I avoid them.

    I hope that makes sense!

    All the best,
    Zack

Why not preventing users from seeing not assigned to them items? Wouldn’t this solve?

It helps to know what others are working on (we’re a news site), so authors can write related stories easily. Also, seeing what each other is doing can help prevent duplicate work. I know it sounds messy. We’re a mix of people who work together in an office and people who work from home across different timezones. Your plugin is one of our best methods of communication ??

Ok, that’s enough for me, as soon as I will have time to work again on the plugin I will add the feature. Maybe I will go for different colors/opacities instead of symbols, which look a bit cumbersome to me. Glad to know it’s useful anyway! ??

Hey, any updates on this? The idea of limiting the users in the “assign posts to a specific user” dropdown is something that I was just about to post.

Hi, afraid nothing has been done ever since.

Would the filter by user role be enough?

If we could filter that dropdown by user role, that would be great.

Just committed version 0.95 allows that ??

This might just be me missing something, but I updated and can’t find any way to limit it. Can you help?

There should be a new field when adding an item, isn’t it there?

There is a section that says

    Assign post to specific user

    Role [dropdown]
    User [dropdown]

The role dropdown doesn’t have any effect as far as I can see though.

I had to hit CTRL+F5 to have the new javascript file loaded. Emptying the browser cache may help as well.
