• Hi,

Quiz Tool Lite was exactly what I needed because of two “killer” features:
    – Import CSV
    – Build Quizzes from several question pots

Although I have a very limited scope of usage (a simulation of a german government multiple choice test with one correct answer per question) I came across some “missing” features and a design issue. Because of language issues I have to use the forked version from ABTOP. It would be wonderful if this fork could be merged back into the main tree. Now for the proposals.

    1. Design Issue: Randomization Option
The option to randomize questions and/or answers should be in the quiz, not in the questions.
I not only would like to offer a test simulation which is as close to the original as possible (ie questions and answers ordered), but also some training possibilities. One of which is randomized questions and/or answers. Currently this means that for every “ordered” pot I need second, more or less identical, “randomized” pot.

    2. Immediate Response
    This was already requested twice.
It means that immediately after the user makes his choice for a question, the result “Correct” or “Incorrect” is displayed along with the correct answer in the latter case, for eg. by highlighting said answer. If the quiz is graded or not should be an option for the quiz designer. Sounds like a flashcard system? Well if you throw in pagination with the option of one question per page, it kinda is ?? Your tool has a vast potential for training purposes.

    3. Pagination
This, too, has already been proposed and I second this proposal despite that it is mostly cosmetic.
Again, this is related to the training aspect. Although the original test has only 33 questions (10 general and 3 state specific) they come from a pool of 300 general questions and 10 state specific questions. I would like to give users the opportunity to try all questions, without having to scroll down a mile long page.

    4. Point based grading
Ok, this one is a bit selfish and may be I got some things wrong. It should be possible to grade
    a) by the number of correctly answered questions
    b) by the number of points achieved where each question can be assigned an individual value or one based on the pot (easy pot = 1pt, difficult pot = 3pt)

Please don’t understand this as any form of critique, but just as some ideas for the future evolution of Quiz Tool Lite.

Hi – and many thanks for the detailed feedback. It’s thanks to feedback like this we can make improvements.
There has been a quiz tool lite v3 in development for some time, but its been stalled due to a variety of issues. The good news is that I’m now actively working on this but because it’s a rewrite pretty much from the ground up it will still be early Spring 2018 before a release would be viable.
To make the product sustainable I may also be adding new features as an ‘add-on’ which brings new capabilities, the details of which I’m not 100% sure on yet. But don’t worry – version 3 will certainly not remove any existing functionality.

A lot of what you raise will be added to that significant upgrade. But in the meantime I’ll deal with your queries one at a time.

    1. Design Issue: Randomization Option
This makes sense, and I will add the option to randomise all responses at a quiz level as well, not just a question level.

    2. Immediate Response
If I understand correctly you want a series of questions (quiz) but with grading to happen as participants go along (for each question), rather than an overall ‘submit quiz’ button. Yes, I will add this to the feature list, but may be an add on as it’s a rather custom feature. At least I’ve not come across this need in any institutions I’ve worked in.

    3. Pagination
Yes this is definitely coming version 3. Ajax based loading pagination.

    4. Point based grading
This is also on the feature list yet – I hadn’t considered applying a default grade to everything within a pot, I was only going to do it for each question. But that’s another option.

Thanks again – really appreciate the comments.

Hi – I’m working on the new version at the moment and have some queries about how you see the flashcard system working.

I assume it’s a one question per page, the student can view their response and correct / incorrect feedback immediately after submitting for each question, then progress to the next one.
    Does that makes sense?
It could work if they can only progress i.e. can’t go back on the quiz.
Would you want to give them the option to ‘reset’ the question if wrong and try again?

Well easiest thing would be to setup a new test site and just export then import the questions… that’s all I mean.
