I would also like to receive emails only when the backup fails (or when there is *some* failure*) – not all the time. It’s true that not receiving an email could mean that the backup succeeded *or* that there is a general server error, but I think that is our responsibility, not the plugin-author’s. I should have my server configured to send notifications if my server or SMTP app goes down. Also, if the server has such a dramatic problem that the backup doesn’t work *and* emails can’t send*, then it is likely that web pages aren’t being served, either, and I’ll hear about it from my customers.
I would like it if you added a feature to only send emails on a problem with the backup. it would make sense if you added a sentence explaining what you did above: that not receiving an email could also mean that the backup succeeded but something is wrong with the server.
