Hello, we are trying to find a solution to “feathering” the facebook posts with posts within the wordpress install. In other words, we want the facebook feed combined with the blog posts, and sorted by date.

Is there a way to import the facebook posts as actual WP posts? Alternately, a way to combine the feeds somehow on display?

Have similar requests been made in the past?

We bought the developer license yesterday, and now our client is asking for the facebook feed to be combined with the blog, so we are looking for potential solutions. Thanks for any feedback.

    Hey Nick,

The plugin doesn’t have the built-in capability to convert Facebook posts to WordPress posts and so it isn’t possible to feather or combine the Facebook posts with your WordPress blog posts. You could style the Facebook posts to look exactly like the blog posts, but wouldn’t be able to actually combine them chronologically.

I can definitely look into what it would take to create either an extension or even a separate plugin which allows you to do this though as I think it would be a neat feature, but would take a good deal of work to build.

Thanks, smashballoon. Your plugin does something that we were really stressing about figuring out how to do ourselves, so kudos on having a very well-supported and helpful plugin overall.

More and more clients are asking for the ability to feed their facebook posts into their blog, as well as add the occasional blog post into the mix, so if you come out with an extension for this, I imagine that it would be well received.

One thing that did occur to me is that perhaps the php version of this plugin might output the facebook posts in such a way that they could be merged with the output from a WP loop. Not having downloaded or looked at the php version, I’m not sure how the facebook posts are output, but alas, we don’t have the time to investigate this at the moment. Just a thought. have a good one!

    Hey Nick,

It would potentially be possible to output the posts inside the WordPress posts loop, so that you had one Facebook post displayed after each WordPress post. It would take some work to get that to work with the Standalone version though as the way it currently outputs posts is that it creates an array which stores the posts which is then output by calling a function in your page. If you’re interested in trying to make those kind of customizations then we should probably continue the discussion via email. Feel free to shoot me a message via our Support form.
