• FB requires app review but they failed and I have no idea why. Their rules are so complex, and the terms they use become so confusing after you start reading, that I have no idea how to satisfy them for the apparently simple task of posting to our page.

Your screencast doesn’t show how the use of this permission directly improves the user experience in your app. Unfortunately, we also weren’t able to determine this from testing your app manually.
All permissions data must be visibly used within your app. We do not accept permission requests for data that you may decide to use later.
Please see our Examples page to learn more about making and submitting a successful screencast.

    Notes From Your Reviewer
Please include the final, published post inside your screencast.

    – in addition to this

How is your app using publish_pages?
Lets people publish content or respond to posts and comments as a Page (also requires manage_pages)
    Publishes content to Facebook automatically
Lets people post to Facebook with a message pre-filled by the app
    Other
Apps won’t be approved for this use of publish_pages. To be approved, apps must follow our review criteria and the guidelines for using publish_pages.

    – so we can’t use the app to publish content to FB automatically??

    For ‘manage pages’ –

How do I show how the FB page links with the app??

You must create a temporary login details for your site and give it to them for test purpose.
And also the steps in detail(And this should be showed in the screen-cast ).
Don’t select Publishes content to Facebook automatically ,they won’t allow that ,instead explain the process of posting from WordPress to Facebook in the steps.
For user_photos,you must include the screencast that shows the creation of album in the name of your app and adding image to your app album via the plugin.

    Hope this helps

I’m not letting them login and post on our site!

Creating a ‘screencast’ is an enormous hassle. And what should I record? Making a post on site and the resultant auto post on FB (and having to use a developer setting to do it as the plugin no longer works)?

If not setting ‘Publishes to FB automatically’ (which is what I thought the plugin did), then what setting do I put?

I don’t understand your comments about albums. We may have images or WP galleries in the posts but we don’t publish to FB albums.

Yes,the exact workflow should be included in the screen cast, for that you should use the development mode.

You can set the other option. The plugin automatically post to facebook, but they won’t approve if you set it there, i know it’s strange, but in-order to approve the app you can explain the work flow a i already said in the previous post.

The plugin requires 3 permissions (publish_pages,manage_pages and user_photos ).User_photos permission required to create album (for posting method text message with image).

Please give them detailed step-by-step instructions for how to see this permission the same way people using your app would.

    Hope this helps.

These are ridiculously onerous and intrusive requirements by FB. It’s easier just to manually paste a link to new posts.

Unless FB change their attitude I think auto posting for the average user, ie person or club is dead in the water. See this Stack Overflow thread – https://stackoverflow.com/questions/51089608/business-verification-required-as-part-of-my-app-review and related links.

This is apart from the fact that their requirements are incomprehensible.

    Blame the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

Facebook updated their App review procedure, there is no need of business verification now.

Hmm. I don’t think our running club has a birth certificate or marriage certificate. And I don’t suppose the other incomprehensible requirements have changed either.

    They can keep it.

I just want to start to develop an app. It’s not something users login to it just looks at public page posts and analyses them. I dont understand how I am supposed to create a screencast to show a system that i havent developed yet because i cant even get the app registered!!

    Help! D:

You should create a developer account at https://developers.facebook.com/.
And then create an app by clicking the button Add a New App .
Don’t make the app live if you need additional permissions that require Facebook App Review.
