    I don’t know if this title accurately describes the issue

    I’ve installed the FB plugin. WC keeps telling me this:

    “Facebook for WooCommerce is almost ready. To complete your configuration, complete the setup steps.”

    However, each time I do the setup steps, I get to the very last one, ‘Submit for review’ & when I click that button, it fails, giving me the message:
    “Something went wrong” “This may be because of a technical error that we’re working to get fixed. Try reloading this page”

    I’ve tried doing it numerous times, with the same result. I’ve tried removing and re-installing the plugin to no avail.

    What gives?
    Is it something in the WC settings?
    FB settings?

    Please note, I am note a techie in any way & am a bit out of my wheelhouse here.

    Thanks in advance.

  • I’m having the exact same issues and also tried re-installing the plugin. It’s ever since the upgrades. Would love a fix to this as I’m seeing a lot of others having the same issue in the support forums.

    Hi, @thezoomguy and @rebelguru,

    Can you please try the following steps to resolve the issues on your sites?

    1. Go to yoursite.com/wp-admin/options.php (change yoursite.com to your domain)
    2. Search for wc_facebook_external_business_id
    3. Update the field to include only ASCII characters and save. Best practice: store-name-dfsdc3lck9k6q ← 13-digit random string
    4. Go back to WooCommerce > Facebook and click “Get Started” again`

    @rebelguru, if that doesn’t help, according to our forum guidelines, I would encourage you to create your own thread. The “Something went wrong” error has many different possible causes, so we’d want to address your issue separately. We would gladly assist you from your new thread.

    Hi Cara-

    I checked the id field and it had this storename-60d4df97d8fae already there. It looks correct to my non-technical eyes.
    If that’s correct, then it’s not the issue, as the plugin still doesn’t work.

    That’s super odd ??

    Now it looks like we need to clear Facebook for WooCommerce from WordPress database completely and start again the connection.

    Next Steps: Remove FB for WooCommerce from Database

    What we want to do next is to completely remove the Facebook for WooCommerce data stored in your WordPress database.

    – First of all, please backup your database [Important].

    – Deactivate Facebook for WooCommerce

    – Please navigate to your phpMyAdmin page, you might want to ask your host if you’re not sure, and then navigate to the SQL section and paste the code below into the white box, lastly please click Go:

    The Code run is located here to view.

    Sidenote: Sometimes some WordPress database has a unique table prefix, the most common prefix is wp, so the table will start like wp_options, but if your database has a different prefix, please ensure to adjust accordingly the above code.

    Once, the above data removal is completed, please reactivate Facebook for WooCommerce and then go back to Marketing > Facebook, and click Get Started.

    I hope that helps!

    If you’re not sure, you can forward this instruction to your developer or hosting support ??

    Still no go. Developer cleared the db as you suggested & just re-tried activating the plugin.
    Same error message right at the end;

    “Something went wrong.
    This may be because of a technical error that we’re working to get fixed. Try reloading this page.”

    Thanks @thezoomguy

    Could you please enable Facebook debug logs under Marketing > Facebook:

    Link to image: https://d.pr/i/3k8dlC

    And then please try to connect again.

    Once you have done this, if the error repeats, could you please contact us at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support. You may need to create an account before you can access that page.

    Please include a link to this forum thread, so that we can keep track of what’s already been done.

    Please also access the logs from WooCommerce > Status > Logs and send us a copy of those in your reply.

    You will be able to find them from the dropdown on the right side of the Logs screen and will start with the word facebook.

    If they are lengthy, you can use a tool such as https://pastebin.com to paste the logs into and share that link with us instead.

    I’ll mark this topic as resolved and we will be able to help you further through the steps above.

    Thanks!

    Could you give me a complete step by step set of instructions on how to setup the debug enable?
    I literally have no idea where to begin looking for this in FB or WC, much less how to find it…..

    With all due respect, it’s really not ok to mark this as resolved, when nothing has been resolved. Literally nothing has been resolved in any way, yet.

    Hi @thezoomguy,

    To enable the debugging tool for Facebook for WooCommerce, go to: Marketing > Facebook you will be under the Connection tab – check the debugging box and save the changes.

    Link to image: https://d.pr/i/3k8dlC

    Once that is done, if you take any action with Facebook such as manual trigger, the logs will be saved under: WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

    You can still comment on this ticket after it has been marked as solved, but if we don’t hear from you for over a week, we may consider it sold.

    For now, I updated it to not solved.

    I hope this helps.

    I still don’t know how to find the Marketing > Facebook location that you are referring to. I have no idea where that is, nor how to find it.
    Is it on Woocommerce or on FB?

    Hi there!

    From your admin dashboard, you will see this section: https://d.pr/j1Mh0r

    Next, click on Facebook to see this section: https://d.pr/i/UErW9w

    Scroll down to see the box to check, then save your changes.

    I hope this helps.

    Unfortunately, this isn’t helpful. You’re just not being clear enough about where I need to look for the things you’re indicating… I don’t see them on my site, anywhere.

    We’ve deleted the FB plugin and are going a different route. Judging by the complaints about the FB plugin on here and elsewhere, it simply doesn’t work and nobody knows why, including FB themselves, as well as WC. Nor can anyone seem to fix it, or address what might be causing the problem. FB support is beyond useless…

    I suggest telling people to just install a different feed plugin, instead of wasting time with the FB one. It just doesn’t work at all.

    Hi there @thezoomguy

    Thanks for your feedback and I am sorry to hear the extension didn’t work out.

    If you would like to continue with resolving this however, I have included the next steps below.

    You’re just not being clear enough about where I need to look for the things you’re indicating… I don’t see them on my site, anywhere.

    Could you please provide us with a screenshot so that we can see what you on your end? That will help us understand where you’re looking and the steps to navigate to the settings we’ve suggested.

    If you don’t already have a screenshot service installed, here are a few free options:

    * https://snipboard.io
    * https://skitch.com/
    * https://getcloudapp.com/
    * https://awesomescreenshot.com/

    There is also a walkthrough guide here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

    Alternatively, as I mentioned previously, please do feel free to create a support ticket at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support. You may need to create an account before you can access that page.

    The reason we mark a forum topic as Resolved after this is so that we can keep the conversation in one place rather than communicating both by email as well as on the forum at the same time.

    We will be standing by for your response.
