• Hi, I recently changed the color of my favicon. In order to do this, I went to Appearance, Customize, Site Identity and I uploaded a new ‘site icon’. For context: I’m using Magazine Pro on the Genesis Framework. However, my favicon is no longer displaying in Google Search. As far as I know, I have complied with all the Google guidelines for favicons:

    – the favicon is an ICO file
    – it is 48×48 pixels
    – a link to the favicon is in the header: <link rel="shortcut icon" href="https://robpowellbizblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/rpbb-favicon-48x48-1.ico">

Is there a step I missed?

If anyone can see a reason why the favicon is not appearing in Google Search, I would be most grateful to know what it is.

I made the changes referred to above 10 days ago.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there,

Favicon showing up in SERPS is completely controlled by Google search. You can follow Google’s guidelines to notify them of a change in your favicon. At times, it takes a while for changes to reflect, but you can request indexing using the link above to speed things up. Cheers!
