Favicon doesn't show up on first load.

Whenever I visit my for the first time with an empty cache, the favicon won’t show up in the tab region for the first load. It shows up on the second reload. After that, it pretty much shows up all the time.
What seems to be causing this delay on the first load?
I uploaded my favicon to the root directory of my file manager, and upload one in the parent theme folder.
