• I named the old file favicon2.ico then uploaded “my” favicon.ico to root, but it doesn’t show up, why? Those were the directions I got searching this forum too?! How can I get my own favicon up there?

  • well, I have found that I have to put my favicon image in the root of your website and in your theme folder to get it to show up on all pages of your website.

Even then it sometimes it does not show on children pages. Not sure why. Did you put the code for the favicon in your theme file header.php file?

No.. all I did was what I wrote in my original post.

Hmmm… i just uploaded it to the theme folder (I use 2010 Weaver) and still nada. ??

Ok check the header.php file of your theme. this code needs to be inside the head tags: <LINK REL=”SHORTCUT ICON” href=”/favicon.ico”>

    did your old favicon work?

Sometimes favicon take a bit to show up too.

The themes header.php or the whole website header.php?

The theme’s header.php, anywhere between the opening <head> and the closing </head>.

A link to the site might help. Also, like HCSdesigns said, new favicons can take a while to show in your current browser due to caching. Try checking with other browsers/computers.

I’m having this same problem with Weaver 2010. Been here for at least 4 hours trying to figure out what’s going on.

Using Firefox I found the old Favicon showing
Location location:image/x-icon 64; ….. and a long string of letters and numbers.

But I can’t physically find the image and can’t get my website and browser to point to my real favicon:

    BIZARRE!

I ditched 2010 Weaver in favor of Suffusion and the problem is resolved.
