I know what I did; I just don’t know how to fix it. I was writing a post in IE7, and forgot to hit the save button before I tried to access my account in Firefox.

It took exception to the fact that I was trying to log in simultaneously with the same user name and password, and now I’m locked out of my account. I can’t access the admin page, and externally it’s listed as a 500 error.

I uploaded my backup from this morning – no luck. I uploaded the backup from last night – no luck. I deleted the appropriate files and “upgraded” again to 2.5 (even though I was already using 2.5) and still no luck.

I’ve been on hold for 45 minutes with tech support at my ISP. They have finally decided it is a php error, but so far no luck in fixing it either. Any ideas? Here is a snippet of the error message from the log file.

PHP Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: User already has more than ‘max_user_connections’ active connections

  • It means that you have too much (defined by your host/ISP) connections to the database. It could be your theme or your plugins (or your host allowing a small number of active connections).

Oh, I did know what the problem was – my ISP didn’t allow multiple active connections; I judt couldn’t figure out how to fix it.

I eventually backed into the idea of accessing an individual post, which I was able to do. From that page, I was then able to click the link for admin on my right bar and log out of IE.

Then I repeated that step in Firefox. Once I successfully was able to even access the admin page in both locations and able to log out, then it straightened itself out.

Here’s a link to the specifics in case this happens to anyone else.
