Fatal Errors during installation

  • Gosh, I hope there are some people out there who can help with this problem! I attempted to install WP 2.6 today, following the instructions in the World Famous 5-Minute Installation Guide, but it failed miserably. Anyway, after opening the “/wp-admin/install.php” file in my browser, I received the following error message –

    Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /homepages/6/d250633475/htdocs/wp-settings.php on line 212

    During a semi-thorough search of this support forum, I discovered that many others have received this error during installation of plug-ins.

    Anyway, does anyone have any counsel to give? I strongly suspect the reason it screwed up is because I failed to correctly enter the database information correctly, or because of something else I did incorrectly. Thank you so very much in advance for your assistance!

    I think I’ve solved the above issue – but now I have a new one. (Seriously, sometimes I don’t think I should be allowed to leave the house without an escort!)
