Fatal error wordfence-waf.php moving to new server

I am trying to move my wordpress website which did have the latest wordfence installed (it has been uninstalled trying to work around this error but the error persists even after uninstallation):

Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required ‘/srv/XXXX/home/public_html/wordfence-waf.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in Unknown on line 0

On the new server the above path does not exist but restoring the htaccess file *and* deleting the plugin entirely does not remove the above error.
