• Hi,

So i’m not too experienced with code and was given a code (by someone in a different forum) to insert into my functions.php file in WordPress Theme Editor. It worked but i needed another code as well. I pasted the new one and now I get a white screen with the error message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare content_sidebar_layout_blog() (previously declared in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas02_data01/50/2068650/html/wp-content/themes/altitude-pro/functions.php:245) in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas02_data01/50/2068650/html/wp-content/themes/altitude-pro/functions.php on line 262

I can’t access anything in wordpress even the login page. I am redirected to the white screen with the error message above.

What do I do? How can I recover my site/wp?

  • Don’t panic. This isn’t that big of a problem. In fact, I do this all the time.

All you need to do is log into your FTP (cpanel) and go to wp-content/themes/altitude-pro/ and go to the function.php. Then you just edit it by removing the bad code that you added, save the file, and your website should be back up.

    Hey Matthew,

I can’t get to the cpanel; I am redirected to the error message

In that case you need to contact your host provider.

Nevermind I went through Godaddy and restored my site. Works now.

    Great!
