• Hi,

I deactivated Simple Google Sitemap XML plugin cause it was causing me trouble when working on my website. Now I wanted to re-activate it and I get this:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Warning: fopen(/home/xxxxx/domains/barbaramilavec.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/simple-google-sitemap-xml/sitemap.xml) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/xxxxxx/domains/barbaramilavec.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/simple-google-sitemap-xml/simple-google-sitemap-xml.php on line 34

Any idea why it happens and how to fix it?

    Thanks!

  • It’s possible that your hosts have refused to allow access to the fopen function. Have you asked them about this?

They said it’s a normal security thing and that I can change it myself… I’m not sure I understood their instructions well but I changed all permissions concerning this (ones of WP content, config.php, plugins etc.) to 777 for the time being and it worked.

If anyone is reading this cause they have a similar problem and are a newbee like me, after you finish make sure you put the permissions back to how they were.
