I updated my WordPress installation to 2.3.1. today. Everything went smoothly except for the “Get Recent Comments” plugin. There’s a fatal error when I try activating the plugin. Unfortunately, I’m not sure what the error is. Sometimes it says something about “allowed memory size exhausted”. This problem occurs both with the lates version of “Get Recent Comments” and also with an older one that I still had on my hard drive.

What could I try to resolve this problem? Or is there an alternative to the “Get Recent Comments” plugin that does the same?

  • Could need to talk with your host about increasing the amount of memory allocated to PHP.

The problem with this situation is: If everything worked before the update and now it’s getting a memory error, something else is going on. Increasing the PHP memory allocation is not really a fix, but a band-aid.

Matt: I would contact the plugin author about this issue.

The band-aid solution helped, thank you!
