fatal error upon publishing

i installed this plugin yesterday, created the app and got it authorized quite easily. today i started posting, and the plugin was posting my links to facebook as it should. i posted two or three posts and had no problems with it. but i went to post a new one fifteen minutes ago, and when i hit the publish button, it threw out this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_strripos() in /home/user/public_html/wp-content/plugins/facebook-auto-publish/xyz-functions.php on line 71
i did not change anything in-between posts, and the plugin was working properly for myself and even other users until this last time i went to post. what’s worse, it seems the error interrupted another plugin i’m running to post the link to twitter, so two of my social media sites got skipped. any idea of what might be the problem? thanks.
