Installed today via internal WP_Admin>Plugins>Add New…
Installs fine, however when I activate plugin it shuts down my entire site with the following error message on all pages.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tgmpa() (previously declared in /home/shadow47/public_html/stygian.games/wp-content/plugins/channel-solution-for-twitch/classes/class-tgm-plugin-activation.php:1900) in /home/shadow47/public_html/stygian.games/wp-content/themes/ultimate-kickoff/framework/include/tgm_library/tgm-activation.php on line 2126

Currently running WP 4.7.2 – have not had an issue like this with any other plugin. Had to open FTP and hard delete addon content folder to get my website back.

  • Hi xaices,

Both the Channel Solution for Twitch plugin you are using as well as the Ultimate-kickoff theme are using an out-of-date version of an external library (TGMPA) and they really should upgrade to the latest version. Though the real problem is most likely a search and replace error in the theme. /cc @ryan-bayne
Upgrading that library to the current version will fix this.

In the mean time, you can fix this yourself by applying the upgrade to your installation.

    1. Download the current version of the library from https://tgmpluginactivation.com/download/ (for your purposes, just click on the “Zipball” link below the form)
    2. Unzip the file and
    3. Copy/upload (via FTP) just the class-tgm-plugin-activation.php file to the /home/shadow47/public_html/stygian.games/wp-content/plugins/channel-solution-for-twitch/classes/ and the /home/shadow47/public_html/stygian.games/wp-content/themes/ultimate-kickoff/framework/include/tgm_library/ directory of your website, replacing the existing class-tgm-plugin-activation.php file.

Once you’ve done that, all should be fine again.

All the same, I’d highly recommend that you contact the Theme author and ask them to release a new version of the theme which includes this upgrade.

As for the plugin, it would be helpful for @ryan-bayne to upgrade it as well – please use the above mentioned link and form to get the correct version -, though their version is not the one causing the problem.

    Hope this helps.

    Smile,
    Juliette

    Hi folks,

xaices I’m sorry you were unable to use it.

The plugin is actually being built from scratch because interest has been good and I’m not happy with the engineering of the plugin. That work started a week ago and is on a whole new level of quality.

The current version can be used though and I will update to fix this issue. But if you have a very keen interest in this plugin please get involved in the projects Trello and Discord. Eventually, it will be on Slack and GitHub. Push it forward just being showing up and reminding us all that you want this plugin to be great.

@jrf thank you for your response. Funny thing is I marked the tgm class to be updated in the new plugin but not because I knew about this bug. It was because I modified the class quickly and it was those actions that rendered the current version of the plugin a prototype.

I was really just testing the water because I have no idea how big my audience is. It’s all about a lazy though and I’m going to change that.

@ryan-bayne If there are things which can be improved in the TGMPA library, please feel invited to open an issue or PR in the repo: https://github.com/TGMPA/TGM-Plugin-Activation/
