• Hi folks, I recently inherited a pre-existing site at work…it was working okay, but pretty dated and the nuts and bolts hadn’t been updated in a couple of years.

I have been trying to get things updated, but the 24 hours there have been problems. At first it started re-directing visitors to a new landing page instead of the home page. Now, after updating a few plug-ins, I can’t even get back into the admin panel. When I type in the address of the admin panel, I get this:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wpsc_find_purchlog_status_name() (previously declared in /home/tradesho/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce-exporter/includes/release-3_7.php:306) in /home/tradesho/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/wpsc-includes/misc.functions.php on line 27

It looks like the wp-e-commerce plugin is at least partially at fault, but I can’t even get into the admin page to disable the plugin, much less anything else. I’m not a programmer (more of a marketer/blogger) so any help in laymens terms would be greatly appreciated!

  • Yes, you’re correct, that plugin is the problem – and you’ll need to use FTP (or other file manager) to deactivate it –

    you can find it here:

    wp-content
        plugins
wp-e-commerce - DELETE or RENAME this folder

Thanks for the help WPyogi! Now I just have to hunt down access to our FTP since they guy that created it is MIA ??

Your hosting company can likely help you with that.

One last question, how do I disable it through FTP?

Rename or delete that folder. If that does not work, rename the entire plugins folder to plugins.HOLD.

Awesome, I will try that- I appreciate the help!
