fatal error: Out of memory wordpress 4.0.1 (BUG)

  • No matter what I do I get errors left right and centre of this nature:

    Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 65011712) (tried to allocate 72 bytes) in /home/thevaper/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 181

    I have exhausted all possible fixes including but not limited to an example of adding to htaccess, wp-config, caching plugins, Upgrading memory settings in WHM and cPanel, upgrading from WP 4.0 to WP 4.0.1, changing theme to default WP standard etc.

    There is nothing left to try even my hosting cannot assist as it is bug that is WordPress based.

    Really seems to be a bug? Any ideas? Without a fix my site is useless as it keep crashing etc with this said error!

    I have even tried setting to -1 on the memory for unlimited as a test. I have disabled my plugins in various combinations etc. Totally stuck!

    Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated asap before I go anymore crazy than I already am. Thanks in advance!

  • This is the first I’ve heard of this kind of error being attributed to the version of WP. No similar problems here with 40+ sites on various servers.

    Only solution I can think of would be to go back to an earlier version of WP by restoring a backup. Not the greatest fix but it would get you back online at least.

    I’m not sure about restoring an earlier version of WP. You’d have to think about also restoring theme and plugins of the same vintage, since that was the combination of versions that was found to work. Then you are locked in the past and can’t move forward with anything.

    When you’ve tried everything, consider rebuilding the site. Export your database and content, then reinstall with a fresh database and software downloads. If you like, your new install could be in a sub-directory, and when it working you can point your url to the new install.

    When you are rebuilding, do so one element at a time so if you get the same issue you can identify what caused it.
