Using this on a client site, on VPS at HostGator. AAM gives me a fatal error in the admin area of the plugin:

Call to undefined function mb_strlen() in .../wp-content/plugins/advanced-access-manager/application/view/menu.php on line 88

I can click around in the admin area of AAM but can’t make any changes. I suspected a plugin conflict.

I downloaded the site (complete backup of everything) to my local host so I could deactivate plugins, etc… and AAM works fine on local, no errors. So I suspect it may be something with the VPS server. Any known issues with HostGator?

  • Hi Tracy,
Thank you for feedback. The reason you have this issue is because your hosting does not have PHP library that works with multibite strings. You can try to ask support team to install it for you.
From our side we will make sure that this error will be fixed in our next release 2.5.1 that is coming by the end of this week.

    Appreciate your interest in AAM.

Thanks Vasyl! I figured it was something on the hosting side.

I use your plugin on several sites – I love it, and it comes highly recommended by my dev community. Really appreciate the work you do on it.
