Fatal Error on the homepage – need help!

  • I updated the responsive theme and got a fatal error message but it’s only on the home page. I tried making the child theme but only have a .css file for the child theme. The only thing I can think of was that I added the

    add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');

    to the functions.php file in the parent theme although it said not to edit that file in any way. So looking at that file after the update the line of code is not there anymore.

    What else could be causing this error??

  • Update your Settings → Reading → Homepage settings.

    update what? to a static page? then there are no options for the normal home page. I need the content that the responsive theme offers on the original home page.
