    I was working on the update of Yoast WordPress SEO to the current version when I experienced a Fatal Error.

    Looking at my logs I see the following trace :

    PHP Fatal error:  Uncaught Error: Class 'Yoast_Notifications' not found in /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/wp-seo-main.php:455\nStack trace:\n#0 /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/wp-seo.php(50): require_once()\n#1 /wp-admin/includes/plugin.php(2286): include_once('/usr/home/data/...')\n#2 /wp-admin/includes/plugin.php(668): plugin_sandbox_scrape('wordpress-seo/w...')\n#3 /wp-admin/plugins.php(58): activate_plugin('wordpress-seo/w...', 'https://www.exa...', false)\n#4 {main}\n  thrown in /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/wp-seo-main.php on line 455, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/plugins.php?plugin=wordpress-seo%2Fwp-seo.php

    I try to update multiple time, with a fresh archive each time, but the problem is still there. I tried deactivating the plugin, deleting the folder, it didn’t solve the issue.

    Any ideas ?

    Yoast SEO version : 17.3
    Wordpress version : 5.8

    We are sorry to hear that you’re having a fatal error after updating Yoast SEO to the latest version.

    The error you have shared with us showing the Yoast_Notifications class is missing from Yoast SEO plugin files and as such, you’re seeing the relevant fatal error.

    The fact is I already install and update my plugins using FTP.

    But redownloading and reinstalling it with a better connection solved the problem.
