  • I had the same problem.
Plugin deleted and reinstalled: “Google Analytics Plugin for WordPress by Monster MonsterInsights”

Same here, delete and reinstall doesn’t solve the problem for me though.

I set all plugins auto updated, and this plugin damaged my wp.
Just removed the plugin folder (/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress) solved the problem.

    wp-content\plugins\google-analytics-for-wordpress\includes\admin\meta-box.php on line 11

Fatal error: Cannot declare class MI_MetaBox, because the name is already in use in

I am also receiving this error, rolling back to version 3.8.0 resolves the issue for now.

I wish Monster Insights would stop pushing automatic updates that break sites. This has happened more than once.

Pretty poor for a 3+ million plugin

Same issue here, entire client site down. Had to manually deactivate Google Analytics For WordPress plugin to restore site.

We need a bug fix ASAP so that no analytics are lost! Also, MonsterInsights needs to do a better job testing to catch these sort of conflicts before widely releasing updates.

I’m sure it’s common for Auto Updates to be enabled these days, which means in a case like this, a site can go down and you don’t even know.

    Same here. ??

    Same here…
It also blocks widget area access.
I deleted the plugin so I can go to my widget area

    Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. I’m so sorry about the trouble here.

Our team is currently looking into this. As soon as I have another update to share, I’ll post another reply.

    Thank you!

Same here, what should I do? I deleted the plugins that caused the error but still the same? This is urghh

Edit: Plugins deleted and refreshed, we were able to access the site, both logged out and logged in. Had to remove the plugins because client’s customers can’t visit the site and just showing fatal error blah blah. I hope that the admin can fix this issue thanks!

I’m also getting a fatal error caused by MI, this time whenever I try to add or edit a custom post type.

TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading '_mi_skip_tracking')

Hi, same here, showing “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

We even cannot login to the WordPress dashboard, then we renamed the folder of “Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights” to disable the plugin, and the website is back to work.

So wait for the fixed version to update.

    Thank you.

    Hi @tomatillo,

Thanks for letting us know about that.

A fix for the _mi_skip_tracking error message will be included in the release our team is putting together.

As mentioned by others, to get around the fatal error, website owners will need to disable the Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights plugin by deleting or renaming the plugin folder. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience this causes but if you need assistance, please reach out to our support team at https://www.monsterinsights.com/lite-support/.

In the meantime, our team is working on releasing the fix as soon as possible.

    Thank you!
