Fatal error message

  • Hi,

    I just got wordpress running on 000webhost.com and everything went fine, I installed a former version of wordpress though. I even modified the background and header already. Then I decided to upgrade my current wordpress version to the newest one, and ever since that I can’t access my site anymore, neither the admin panel, nor anything else.

    I don’t know if this problem is caused by wordpress or 000webhost.com. I’m sorry if this here is the wrong place, in that case please tell me where to go.

  • I’m not sure how you performed the upgrade, but it failed to complete properly. I’m not sure what else is missing, but the essential wp-includes/option.php file is missing. Which is what the error message is complaining about.

    Depending on your comfort level, you may wish to repair the upgrade by reloading the missing files from the WordPress download. Or, you may find it easier and less confusing to “start all over again” and just install the current version of WordPress from scratch. After deleting what you have now.

    What is the exact fatal error message?

    I’ll just delete everything in my public html in the file manager (?)

    The error message is

    Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/myname/public_html/wp-includes/option.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/a3037504/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 8

    Is _MacosX a wordpress file or does it belong to 000webhost? I can’t remember if it was there before.

    I can see my site again. However I got a message to clean my database from old wordpress files in order to install new ones. Where can I do that? :/

    Sorry for these questions, but I’m new to this.
