• I have so many HUGE spam comments that when I go to moderate them, I get this message:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded

Am I going to have to go into the database to remove these manually?

  • is it all already marked as spam? if so, you can use another plugin to take care of things. Like install CG-AntiSpam, activate it, use the Flush option, then deactivate it (if you don’t want it running live…). I think SpamNuker or something also may be a help from mentions of it, but haven’t seen it myself.

You could also tweak the code to only show you a maximum of maybe 50 or 100 comments at a time…

No, these are new comments that aren’t marked as spam. There are so many of them, and each comment has around three or four dozen links as well as text.

Which file to I tweak to change the number of comments to show?
    Thanks for your help.

Use the Paged Comment Editing Plugin, and when you go to Manage/Comments, select “Mass Edit Mode”. This will allows you to check-mark each comment you want to delete and then hit the big “Delete” button.
