Fatal Error Line 72 Footer.php Causing Big Problem

I don’t know if this is related to the same problem but I’ve just checked one of my websites and It’s now got two separate copyright lines, one via a plugin of mine and the second states

“Copyright ? 2017 Celestial Lite WordPress Theme by Styled Themes”

… and as soon as updated another website with the latest Celestial Lite upgrade, that too now shows two copyright lines!

It would have been nice to have been given some warning that this line would appear.

Perhaps if you roll-back to the previous version the problem you’ve mentioned will disappear?

I guess you reply was to the OP, but if it helps, my website’s https://www.cleanerstogo.co.uk and on mine, post the recent theme update it now shows two separate copyright lines, one that’s part of a plugin and one that refers to your theme.

I don’t believe I’d somehow ‘rem’d out’ your copyright, so perhaps the updates added it.

This might be causing the problem the OP referred to?

Yes we ‘re addressing both of you. We don’t have any issues regarding the copyright and footer. Make sure you had removed the code correctly. Also if you are you using the child theme properly or not?

For the site we’re doing, we’re not using a child theme, just the main Celestial Lite theme. In our case, the error was thrown based on line 72 in your theme in the footer.php. We rolled the version back to the last one on the theme so it wouldn’t keep throwing that error on the pages visible to the public. But we do not want to keep it at that older version. Once again, here is the error it listed in your most recent update on the theme:

Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/bikersl1/public_html/wp-content/themes/celestial-lite/footer.php on line 72

Hi, thank you for the theme update & I can see there’s now a space in “Customising Basic Settings” where copyright details can be added.

A snag is that I’m currently using an addin called Footer Putter in which puts a copyright line in the footer, along with my own chosen address details.

As other users might have similar addins I wondered whether a ‘delete-option’ might be useful, as at the moment I’ve just put a couple of blank spaces in the field mentioned above, to stop duplication.

Just a thought.
