    G’day,

I went to install a FB reviews plugin.

    Social Reviews & Recommendations

It whitescreened my site. Front + Back ends.

I renamed the plugin, in cPanel, no difference.
I deleted the plugin, as well, no difference.

It turns out it is WF.

I deleted WF, and then reinstalled it.

WP won’t activate WF, as it will cause a Fatal Error.

    Not sure what to do…

    Please help!

  • Hey @henxiaoyi,

    My apologies for the trouble.

    We’re currently tracking this issue.

Can you please share your system information?

In my experience, completely reinstalling Wordfence resolves this. However, before trying that can you please send me a Diagnostic report? If possible, I’d also like a Diagnostic report after resetting Wordfence if it resolves it. You can send them to [email protected]. Please include your www.remarpro.com username and update this thread in case there are issues receiving the email.

    Thanks,

    G’day Gerroald,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
I have had to carry on with usual business duties, so that is why I am responding a week later.
I had installed another Security plugin straight away, but like using WF the most, so would like to get a solution resolved if possible.

    I cannot interact with WF.
WP will not let me open it again.
I had to rename it in cPanel, and ultimately delete it.

Not sure how to interact with it.

It has also happened on another of my sites today, which doesn’t have the FB reviews plugin.

    Not sure how to fix.

I am happy to share a diagnostic report, but not sure where to locate it or how to share any information.

Thank you for your time ??

I have tried reinstalling WF but not success.

As soon as I try a fresh install, WP won’t let me.

I never got to undo anything, as per the URL you shared about the Firewall, etc.
To get my site working, I had to get rid of it in cPanel.

Adding this in case someone else has this issue and comes here looking for answers.

Thanks for reaching out. We’ve been investigating these reports and now think we have a cause and a solution.

One thing to note, that if you see an error in your logs about running out of memory, it may not be the same issue. It might be a case of needing to allocate more memory to PHP. PHP memory is cumulative. That means the amount set in php.ini is shared between all your plugins, your theme, and WordPress, plus any other non-WordPress apps you have installed in the site folder. We recommend changing it to 256M and upgrading to PHP 7 or above, which introduced better memory handling. If that doesn’t help, please try one of the other solutions mentioned here.

What we found is that on some sites the emailedIssuesList row in the wfconfig table had became too large from recording hashes of previously emailed scan issues. Reinstalling Wordfence fresh (where the data and database tables are removed) was fixing the issue but this lets us know exactly where the problem was.

There are 2 ways of fixing this.

    1. If you are comfortable using MySQL queries you can issue this command using PHPMyAdmin in your hosting control panel:
    delete from wp_wfConfig where name = ’emailedIssuesList’;

    2. If you are not comfortable with running queries do this:
Remove and reset Wordfence, using the Wordfence Assistant plugin to remove all tables and data and then reinstall the plugin.

We are looking at a solution to prevent it from happening again and hopefully will include it in the next release.

Thanks always for being patient as we worked diligently to solve this for our customers. Thanks as well for reaching out and providing valuable information to help us solve it. Let us know if this solves it for you.

This has been fixed in the latest version, 7.4.8.

    Tim

I’m having the fatal error with version 7.4.8 I will try the above fix in the database and report back.

    OK delete from wp_wfConfig where name = ’emailedIssuesList’;

    worked.

    2. If you are not comfortable with running queries do this:
Remove and reset Wordfence, using the Wordfence Assistant plugin to remove all tables and data and then reinstall the plugin.

    This step worked for me.
