• I was updating a page on my website and this fatal error message showed up and now I can’t access my site anymore.

    Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required ‘/data/18/1/91/95/1580584/user/1702681/cgi-bin/.php/sessions/sess_c68f69b9c30e14ea5a4832d9e16a9a16′ (include_path=’.:/usr/share/php:/usr/services/vux/lib/php’) in Unknown on line 0

    Does anyone know how I could fix this error? Thanks!

    Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Hi James,

    Thank you for your response! I tried resetting the plugins and the theme as you suggested and unfortunately neither of those worked.

    In this case then, I recommend contacting your hosting provider’s support, since the fatal error mentions the PHP directory itself.
