When I upgraded to WP 3.4.1 I got this message, “Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Theme’ not found in /home/roar/public_html/wp-includes/theme.php on line 106”

I searched the forum and found a member’s thread with the same problem and it was resolved. My problem is a bit embarrassing.

In the resolved thread the moderator gave clear instructions to fix the problem, 1)manually download version 3.4.1 to your computer; 2)unzip the file; 3)ftp the files up

My problem is I don’t know how or where to ftp the files. How do I upload the files when I can’t get into my dashboard? What ftp do I use? Where do I upload it to?

I know these are stupid questions but that is the level I am at in WP and computer knowledge in general. Sorry for the being so illiterate and thank you in advance for your understanding and help.

  • You can call up your hosting provider and they can probably help you with the specifics of setting up an FTP account. So if you’re using Host Gator or Go Daddy, you setup an FTP username and password in their control panel. Then, you type the URL of the FTP (ftp.mysite.com) into Windows Explorer and it will then prompt you for your username and password. Once there, you can upload and delete files in the directory.

Alternatively, your host might give you an option for re-installing WordPress.

You also might want to try Filezilla to manage your FTP use, it will allow you to store all of the login info for future use.

Will post again with my progress. Thank you very much. Much appreciated at the speed of your reply and help.
