LowcountryVistas.com is down, and I can’t get into the admin panel. Getting the following error: Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/vistas1/public_html/wp-content/plugins/googleanalytics/class/Ga_Admin.php on line 106

  • Hi lowcountryvistacharleston,

Thank you for reaching out, we’re so sorry you’re having this problem.
Fortunately we have a solution and recently released an update that fixed this issue.
I understand that you’re not able to access your WordPress dashboard, so a manual removal via FTP is needed in order to get back in.

You can remove the plugin via your FTP by deleting the plugin.
This would require access to your control panel via your web hosting solution.

Once logged into your FTP, you can find the folder under:
    /public-html/domain-name.com/wp-content/plugins/googleanalytics/

Delete the whole folder of /googleanalytics/ and you should have access to your WordPress dashboard again.

Hostgator has a great guide here:
    https://support.hostgator.com/articles/specialized-help/technical/wordpress/how-to-installuninstall-wordpress-plugins

If you’re having issues with this step, most hosting support can do this on their end for you.

Once removed you should be able to get back into your WordPress back end and reinstall our new version which is completely compatible.

Apologies again everyone on this error, please let us know if you have any other questions or feedback.

Thanks for the advice, but I unfortunately have to wait for my host provider to provide the FTP credentials. Is this a problem I have to be vigilant about? I didn’t update anything manually.

I am getting this error: Fatal error: Call to a member function add_filter() on a non-object in /home/fridaypl/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 111

Wonder if it is the same to fix?

    Hi @lowcountryvistacharleston,

Please let us know if you’re still having troubles with your website. We unfortunately cannot help with your FTP but if you’re seeing any other bugs please let us know.

    @ayncg,

Thanks for reaching out and providing feedback of an issue you’re seeing. I’m going to let our engineer team know and they will look into a fix. Can you describe more on your end what exactly you’re seeing? And is this error happening after you update to 2.0.1 and try to authenticate via Google?

@ayncg and what point are you getting the error? when just enabling the plugin?
To help us expedite this process, can you let us know if you’re on the latest version of WordPress (Version 4.7), in addition if you can access your console log and let us know what errors are showing that would be extremely helpful! To access your console log you can right click and press ‘Inspect’ then click on the [Console] tab, as seen here: https://cl.ly/iVbH

Or to make it easier, if you could please email support(@)sharethis.com with the temporary WP admin access we would be able to debug it on your site.

@ayncg @lowcountryvistascharleston good news, we have released a new version 2.0.2! Please try it and let us know if you see any issues.

This solution worked perfectly even w/o using FTP. I simply logged into my cPanel and accessed my files that way. Thank you for this.
