Fatal Error — Cannot Update WooCommerce

    Stripe plugin for WooCommerce stopped working because it needs WooCommerce 7.4 and I am on 7.3. When trying to update WooCommerce crashed site with a FATAL ERROR BELOW in which I listed as well as the WooCommerce Status after reverting back too before it crashed.

    GOAL: I need to get WooCommerce updated successfully to 7.4 so I can update the Stripe Plugin.

    Any help would greatly be appreciated.

    Hi @scoobydino,

    Thank you for your message, I understand you’re trying to update your WooCommerce version to be able to use Stripe again but you’re getting an error when trying to do so.

    From your System Status Report, I see you have a few outdated pieces, including your PHP version, WordPress core version, Storefront, and WooCommerce, especially being a few versions ago (currently 8.6.1).

    In this case, I suggest backing up your site first and performing all the pending updates. Ideally, you’d try this in a staging environment to ensure everything works and your store is up and running while you try this.

    You can ask your host if they offer this service, or you can use WP Staging to spin up a new test site quickly.

    Ideally, you’d upgrade your WordPress core first, then your theme, then WooCommerce and other plugins, and finally, PHP.
