Fatal error: Cannot redeclare icl_object_id() (previously declared in /var/www/w
-
Hello everyone,
I have run into multiple problems while managing our website today. Therefore this post will be a little bit longer.
At first, I wanted to Add a New Logo into a rolling banner that is on our website homepage (I am using the Logo Showcase plugin). It has shown me an HTTP Error 500. It is worth mentioning that the day before I have updated all plugins and themes that are running on the website.
The same HTTP Error 500 has appeared also when I wanted to edit the content on one of the pages. So to fix this issue, I have accessed the server using FTP Client and deactivated the plugins by renaming the plugin folder in wp-content.
This solution helped me to temporarily fix the HTTP Error, but the real issue started when I wanted to activate the WPML Multilingual CMS plugin. When I wanted to activate it the following message appeared:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare icl_object_id() (previously declared in /var/www/www.asiacorp.eu/www/wp-content/plugins/polylang/modules/wpml/wpml-legacy-api.php:171) in /var/www/www.asiacorp.eu/www/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/inc/template-functions.php on line 154
This has caused all the translations that were available are not functioning at all. The flag menu from the website has disappeared as well.
Can any of you guys give me any advice to know what to do next to restore the previous set up and fix the above issues so the website is running properly with all its functions?
PS: I haven’t created this website and I am also not any great with the IT field. My guess is that it is impossible to use the Polylang plugin together with WPML.
Thank you very much for any help and do not hesitate to ask for more details.
